K4K activities
Communities of Care
Gathering spaces for caregivers to deepen pilina as they share resources, knowledge, and experiences with one another. When resources are available, we host the following Communities of Care:
Caregiver Talk Story
A connection and safe sharing space for caregivers who are expecting or have at least one keiki under the age of 5. Typically runs as a six-month commitment with 4-8 participants per cohort and 1-2 cohorts per year.
Pā Pōhaku
A welcoming space for dads to build relationships, strengthen parenting skills, and connect to culturally-grounded practices. Inspired by the pōhaku (stones) that carry and protect our stories, Pā Pōhaku offers fathers a strong foundation and safe space to simply be, until they are ready to take the next step for themselves and their ʻohana.
Complete this form to declare your interest in joining the next cohort.
Provider Talk Story (in development)
A space for early childhood direct service providers to show up as parents first; promoting connection, collective peer support, and skills development & practice. Initial pilot offerings have taken place at conferences, and K4K is looking for opportunities to offer PTS to early childhood service organizations as a human resources/enrichment practice.
Communities of Practice
Gathering spaces for caregivers to deepen pilina as they share resources, knowledge, and experiences with one another. When resources are available, the following Communities of Care are hosted by K4K:
all team meetings
Bimonthly meetings to build pilina with one another, discuss opportunities and challenges, and share updates of what's going on in our respective corners of Maui County's early childhood ecosystem. Open to anyone interested in improving Maui County’s early childhood system, including K4K Family Leaders, direct service providers, medical home staff, government officials, nonprofit leaders, etc.
Ages & Stages Questionnaire Training Series
Organized by K4K’s Training & Professional Development Work Group and facilitated by AIMH HI staff, the ASQ Training Series combines virtual training sessions to learn or refresh one’s skills in administering the ASQ-3 or ASQ:SE-2 with a follow-up Community of Practice session to continue the learning and to support the implementation of best practices to address developmental concerns or successes in our diverse communities in Hawai’i.
K4K Screening Kiosk
K4K operates a Screening Kiosk inside the pediatrics waiting room at Malama I Ke Ola Health Center in Wailuku.
The K4K Kiosk is there to help families complete developmental screenings that can show how a child is developing physically, socially, and emotionally. By completing screenings like the Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2) we can celebrate milestones and share resources to support your keiki’s growth!
Hours of operation: Wed & Thur, 8:30 - 11:00 am
Interested in screening your child on your own?
